Running. Running, I am running. Through tall trees, an abyss of green as the polluted blue mist strangles the air around my feet like the smoke you exhaled onto my lips. Walking. I am walking. Over soft, gentle sand that forgives the wear and tear of my feet as the heat from the sun licks the endless wounds imprinted into my feet like the wounds you carelessly scraped into my soul, my being. Sitting. I am sitting. The hallway of my high school, your flawed replica speaking in foreign tongue on the next table. I’m back on the beach as I close my eyes but the sand has transformed into large shards of glass which rip and grind their teeth against me as I stand. I stand and let the skin bleed. Crimson red flooding the ocean as the once focusing breeze no longer smells like nature, but of you.
Running. I am running. I run through worlds that all contrast in inexpressible ways, yet there is one similarity. One factor which carries through— no matter the world, the time each place my mind runs too is tinted and stained with blue. The colour sticks its finger up at me as I walk around in reality, the colour fades into the background and leaps out at me in small bursts as I move from one plane to another.
I am running. Where am I? Running. Why can’t I stop? I am running. Where did I go? All I see is flashing blue.
