Despite winter being cold
Spewing harsh words which split my skin,
It is warm
The snow is still, it glitters
In shades I’ve never
Noticed before
The sky is pale and pink
A different hue of orange
That came before
The blonde of my hair
The forgiving lilac air,
The white of my skin
A part of me longs for the summer
But it is here amongst the snow,
The crack of the cold
Where I feel most at home
Sadness is brief, happiness seeps
Out of the cuts the snowy paper brought
To my skin in deep reds, a contrast
I wake up each morning
New, reinvented
These cold months have been
Gentle with me, a contrast
The green in my eyes doesn’t lie,
My skin brighter
A result of no love but that from
Myself,
I’m burning softly, slower now
In colours I never noticed before
