Looking up, the evening sun
Filters through the trees,
Silver linings flooding the leaves
Like a patchwork of city lights,
But there are no people here
I exist in this place as an abstract idea,
Floating in the wind
I move with the long blades of grass,
The flowers that stand tall like street signs
And wave like familiar faces
A small stream grows into a river
Beside where you lay
Sunlight flashing on the surface
Like a million cameras flashing
They are here to see you,
To capture the image of you
The breeze carries it over to you,
A hard copy of the person you want to be
Hold on tight, take it with you as you leave
Sitting in the grass has never felt so peaceful
The birds sing and the river trickles
As you return you hear these noises transform
They become voices,
The hum of traffic
I know you like it here in the city
But it’s okay to escape for a moment
Returning to this place in your mind,
Where you feel tranquil and undisturbed
The version of you that you planted in your garden,
She grows here
Each time you move between worlds she gets stronger,
Starting as a pixilated image with details you can’t quite figure out but
Look at her now,
The girl who walks the city streets
And doesn’t stop until she’s lost inside the forest
